Im Erdgeschoss der Gustav-Adolf-Str. 34 befand sich von 1910 bis 1925 die Eiergroßhandlung des Kaufmanns Simche Beinom/Binem Goldrei, geboren am 18.10.1874 in Brest. Er galt als „König der Eier“ in Leipzig. Die Firma wurde bereits ab 1898 in der Nikolaistraße 31 als Kommissionsgeschäft der Brest-Litowsker Exportfirma Goldrei & Söhne betrieben. In Leipzig verkaufte die Firma Eier aus Russland, Österreich-Ungarn, Rumänien, Bulgarien, der Türkei und Ägypten. Während der Zwangsbewirtschaftung im Ersten Weltkrieg war die Firma für Leipzigs Eierversorgung zuständig. Nach dem Krieg brachte sie chinesische Eierkonserven auf den deutschen Markt. Von 1926 bis 1938 befanden sich Büro und Lager in der Lagerhoffstraße. In der Zeit belieferten sie die Konsumvereine für Thüringen und Sachsen. S. B. Goldrei wird auf der Stiftertafel des Eitingon-Krankenhauses genannt. Er war um das Jahr 1933 im Gemeindevorstand der Israelitischen Religionsgemeinde und für die Einhaltung der Jüdischen Speisevorschriften zuständig.

Simche Beinom Goldrei war mit Sara Lea, geb. 15.4.1868 verheiratet, beide wohnten bis 1939 auch in der Gustav-Adolf-Str. 34. Ihre Todesdaten werden mit 1960 bei Sara Lea und mit 1964 bei Simche Beinom angegeben.

Sie hatten zwei Söhne: Der erste, Dr. Simon (Simche) Goldrei, geboren 2.7.1901 in Leipzig, war Physiker von Beruf. 1932 heiratet er Hanna Carlebach, die Tochter des Gemeinderabbiners Carlebach. Sie wohnten mit ihrer Tochter auch in der Gustav-Adolf-Straße 34, ab 1935 in der Funkenburgstr. 15. Im Januar 1936 wanderten sie nach Palästina aus.

Der zweite, Samuel Goldrei, geboren 18.5.1903 in Leipzig, war Kaufmann und arbeitet als Prokurist im väterlichen Eiergroßhandels mit. Er war mit Hedwig, geborene Suhl, geboren 2.7.1908 in Leipzig, verheiratet. Sie wohnten in der Funkenburgstr. 15 und wanderten im Oktober 1935 mit drei Kindern aus.

From 1910 to 1925, the ground floor of Gustav-Adolf-Str. 34 was home to the egg wholesaler Simche Beinom/Binem Goldrei, a merchant born on 18 October 1874 in Brest. He was known as the ‘king of eggs’ in Leipzig. The company was already operating from 1898 at Nikolaistraße 31 as a commission business of the Brest-Litovsk export company Goldrei & Söhne. In Leipzig, the company sold eggs from Russia, Austria-Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Egypt. The company was responsible for Leipzig’s egg supply during the forced labour of the First World War. After the war, it brought tinned Chinese eggs to the German market. From 1926 to 1938, the office and warehouse were located in Lagerhoffstraße. During this time, they supplied the consumer organisations for Thuringia and Saxony. S. B. Goldrei is named on the donor plaque of the Eitingon Hospital. Around 1933, he was a member of the community council of the Jewish religious community and was responsible for the observance of Jewish dietary regulations.

Simche Beinom Goldrei was married to Sara Lea, born on 15 April 1868, and both lived at Gustav-Adolf-Str. 34 until 1939. Their dates of death are given as 1960 for Sara Lea and 1964 for Simche Beinom.


They had two sons: the first, Dr Simon (Simche) Goldrei, born 2.7.1901 in Leipzig, was a physicist by profession. In 1932, he married Hanna Carlebach, the daughter of the municipal deputy Carlebach. They lived with their daughter at Gustav-Adolf-Straße 34, just like her parents/parents-in-law, later on in Funkenburgstr. 15, and emigrated to Palestine in January 1936. 


The second, Samuel Goldrei, born 18.5.1903 in Leipzig, was a businessman and worked as an authorised signatory in his father’s egg wholesale business. He was married to Hedwig, née Suhl, born 2 July 1908 in Leipzig. They lived at Funkenburgstr. 15 and emigrated with three children in October 1935.
